Fuel Filter Replacement
Hi All, tried to replace the fuel filter today. Backed off. I cannot believe the amount of leaking fuel . Under pressure spurting all over the place and does not seem to want to stop.
I've replace quite a few filters in my day. Never one like this.
I think I'll wait tell the tank is almost empty. Maybe that will help.
Is this usual?? tks Rich

The fuel system is under pressure you need to go to the schreader valve on the fuel rack and bleed off the pressure. Put a shop towel over it and mop up the fuel. Doesn't matter if you have a full tank or a 1/4 tank. That pressure has to be relieved first. It is cleaner and neater at the valve on the engine.
Thank you Vern, yes, I could see a good deal of pressure once I loosened the fuel line. Knew there had to be a trick.
tried to remove the fuse run the engine for a second with residual fuel pressure, that didn't work... Left over from my old carburetor days. thanks again, Rich
