Default Fuel Injector cleaner

I was advised to use some Chevron Textron cleaner to increase my mpg. Any experience with this cleaner? I have never used an injector cleaner in this car. My XKR is a 2001 with 74K miles. Car runs good with ave mpg of ~19.

Thanks

Gary

I run it thru all my cars once or twice a year when it is on sale. Does it do anything? Couldn't answer that one but I've never had a sticky injector nor have ever replaced an injector.

I've never used any injector cleaners and never had a faulty injector or any other problem. Today's gasoline has more than enough additives already in it.

No need to use them, the cleaning detergents are already in the gas. This is why gas burns so fast, its not pure.

Have the fuel filter changed.

+1 on changing the fuel filter! I just changed mine and the amount of sediment that came out of the old one was eye-opening.

I've heard the Techron advice for along time, but it's true, all gas, esp. the name brands, have additives to clean. Techron is Chevron's, and has a good reputation, so if there's a station nearby, go for it. Probably the best advice I read was to switch up brands from time to time; Shell, Mobil, Chevron, etc. have their own cleaners and what one may miss the other may get. Unless you live in a place where gas turnover at the station is slow it should be a non-issue. Don't we have enough to worry about?

Seafoam. My mechanic keeps it by multiple cases and says that it has cured many problems and saved his customers lots of money. I have used it and everytime I get rough idling or any kind of hick-up it seems to fix them.

I have used it in many cars. Generally it seems to make them run smoother.
About cost, If you have a Costco outlet near you you can buy a six pack for about the cost of 2 in auto parts stores.
Good luck.
