Fuel Pulsation Damper Leak - Repair Scope?
Continuing in a new thread since I mistakenly interpreted the symptoms to be an oil leak and named the thread so.
I was able to trigger the leak from a cold start and could see a steady stream coming from the damper on the driver's side fuel rail. My initial thought was to remove the supercharger and replace the dampers (both) myself, but after realizing the cost of new ones (~$250 each, really Jaguar?!), and since there is no guarantee new leaks won't reappear, which is apparently what happened to member MAXDWG after he replaced his, I decided to go with the recommendation to have the damper cups seal welded. This is however outside the scope of my equipment inventory and probably also beyond my skill set.
Fortunately, the Jaguar club here in Pittsburgh could point me to a mechanic that specializes in exotics and race cars. He laughed when I called him about the problem and said he had fixed two such leaks only in the last few months. He had only done damper replacements previously, but felt confident they'd be able to do a plug-and-weld arrangement. Appointment scheduled for the week of September 23.
So to my question:
I have asked him to replace the heater feed and return hoses under the SC, as well as the two knock sensors, and to clean the injectors. Anything else I should ask for while he's in there?
I'm also having him install the Adamesh stage 2 exhaust mod (avoiding stage 1 due to the reported droning at cruise speed).
Thanks!
