G-05 vs Dex-Cool vs, what do you use?
I'm going to change the coolant tomorrow... I've heard a lot about G-05 and Dex-Cool and I'm wondering if I should switch.
So what do you use?
So what do you use?
Use whatever your car already has in it.
I use ethylene glycol, (the green stuff) which is what it has always had.
I suspect your car has the orange Dex-Cool. Keep using that. Even if you flush, using the same stuff as before gives you peace of mind that the different coolants won't react and become a viscous sludge that blocks your cooling system. It's less likely that this will happen after a good flush, but you never know if there's any left in the system.
Either work well and neither really is better than the other.

I use prestone dexcool in my 01XKR It meets speification WSS-M97B44-D which is what the manual says to use.
FWIW the previous owner had the Jag dealership top it off right before I bought it and they put green in on top of the orange.
So I am draining and flushing.

Thanks for all the responses! Closest Jag dealership is an hour away, there price was ridiculous and I couldn't find G-05. I went with Dex-Cool, that's what has been in it and I got 2 jugs/gallons on sale for $20.
I've had no problems with DexCool in either of the two previous Lexus SUVs we had that used it. Just ensure that whatever fluid you choose meets the required specs before you pour it down the hatch. Coolant gelling caused by mixing various flavors is indeed a major issue that can eventually kill your engine....
