Default Gap in plastic piece near firewall

Correct me if I'm imagining things but wasn't there a thread recently about someone discovering the gap between the plastic trim piece that mounts to the firewall inside the engine compartment? The gap or warp occurs in the piece just behind the throttle body and the poster was convinced this was the cause of warm air entering the comfort air system inside the car. I looked and noticed this on my car also and was wondering if there was ever a resolution of this issue and whether or not it really was an issue?

Are you sure--I never found the thread? I thought there was a bit of discussion about this along with photos but could that thread have been discarded for some reason?

did you try the link, isn't that the thread you were talking about? There probably is more than one with contributions by him.

No--that wasn't the tread. I am pretty sure the thread originated on the XK8/XKR forum and it dealt with a different piece of molding--NOT the cowl piece. Rather, it was a vertical black plastic piece that mounted up against the forward-most end of the cowl. This piece tends to warp outward leaving a gap but it was not clear if that gap causes hot air to entire the passenger compartment.

I will try and take a photo if I get the chance but I believe the original thread already had photos.
