Default Garage Door Opener - RESOLVED

All,

Maybe I'm the only person who hasn't been able to get the Garage Door Opener to work but, yesterday after 9 months of trying I was finally successful. I've programmed lots of these before and for the life of me couldn't get it to work.

Solution - Really, really follow the instructions in the owners manual. I assumed that since I had a rolling code transmitter that all I needed to do was follow the rolling code programming instructions. WRONG! It would never work. Apparently, when you attempt to teach it from your garage door remote and are unsuccessful the system then goes into a rolling code learning mode. I tried to program using the opener (unsuccessfully) and then I did the rolling code process and PRESTO, it worked.

I hope I haven't embarassed myself too much by posting this simple solution.

You are not alone! When I got the car, I tried to make it work, but gave up. I ended up just carrying a remote with me to avoid buying a remote for every car. And then my remote went through the washing machine and it never worked again.

Since I did not want to buy another remote, I just went back to the car and tried again, and I got it to work, after many months.

I could never get mine to work with either my previous Audis or my XK8. It was a rolling code model, but no joy regardless of how I tried.

Then my GDO broke.

The new one programmed the first time. The original one must have been an older, non-compatible model. Amazing how pleased I am with such a minor thing as using the homelink vs. a hand held remote.

Mine is a
non-compatible model
Added a rolling code receiver to the GDO and that worked until I replaced the car battery. By that time I had lost the remote that I never used and could not then reprogram HomeLink. Ordered a new remote and it is not compatible with the rolling code add on. Gave up.

Original non-compatible remote resides on the coin tray and operates the GDO just fine.

Guess I will go try to reprogram after reading the Owners Manual.

Default Door Opener

I had the same problem in that I tried to follow the instructions in the owners manual, never got my rolling code opener to work. Then I went to Jag Wrangler and got the TSB on that issue. It took about 30 sec following those instructions to get it to work. I now check the TSBs for my car before I do anything else if I can't get something to work.

Good Luck

Bob

Didn't think to try looking for a TSB. I just figured it was broken. I'll keep that in mind in the future.
