Default Gearbox fault - TCM location

I am a complete idiot! I had a moment of insanity and tried to reprogram my Gearbox TCM with IDS software and a clone mongoose. It failed and now it is in limp home mode and has restricted performance. When I try and connect with IDS it has an error.

Is my only option to replace the TCM with a working one? Where is the TCM located?

it is a 2005 XKR

I cannot find the stickers that lists what modules and part number.

please help and be gentle.....

I believe the tcm is located in the trans attached to the valve body, and such... I think they can be bought and there are a few jags of this era that use the 6hp transmission...

I would say don't feel tooooooo bad (don't really) but damn dude,,, ya gotta be more careful. Still, everything is fixable and it doesn't always have to break the bank if you're willing to think or go outside the box. Ebay has been a great friend to me with all my machines. Take a breath, it's all good.

Maybe google 6hp26 TCM Jaguar and see what starts coming up?

Me, I would go on ebay and see if I could find one. Then, with it in hand, drive (limp-ily) over to a better than average trans shop (maybe even a jag dealer) that has the technology and ask them to place and program? I don't know if it's a plug and play thing. I think ECU, car and trans info needs to line up...?

On the other hand, in working on a 2003-4 XKR, I've been surprised by what actually is plug and play. Maybe install the damn thing yourself and if it doesn't work have it towed and just tell the shop the sitch, and hopefully keep it moving.

Well deserved beer! You avoided a common home DIY error of a f&@k up while re-programming car modules.
