Default Gearbox Oil Level checking/replenishing?

I want to have this checked and probably replaced.
1998 XK8. 150k miles done.
Sort of thing i'd likely get done at an Independent Jag chap in London.
Any idea of the likely cost?
Is it possible to check the gearbox oil level without a ramp?
Thanks in advance.

A question so often asked that you are probably not going to get a reply.

At 150k miles . . . change, or have someone change the ATF! And hope!

$250 or less in the colonies. Cannot speak for the mother country.

See the sticky's above.
