Default Genius Charger Question

I have a Genius 3500 charger that I am using on my 1998 XK8 battery at the moment. The battery an ACDelco 49PS and it would not start the car nor turn the starter. I removed the battery from the boot and connected it to the 3500. It took quite awhile (about 10 hours to get to the flashing green (final) LED but it has not turned it a solid green after about 4 hours.

Genius chargers have always worked well for me but I do not know how long I should let in stay in the flashing condition. It may be telling me that the battery is toast.

Anyone who can give me advice?

From what I have read in past posts, there are quite a few auto parts stores in the US that can check a battery. Usually free of charge. You may have to make a few phone calls.

There are a couple of easy ways to check the battery. You can get yourself a cheap battery hydrometer. Remove the top caps or cover and and withdraw some of the acid and it will show show you the condition of your cells. Each cell, if properly working should produce 2.1 volts. You can also take a voltmeter and measure across the terminals and you should get 12.6 volts, if it's fully charged. Hydrometers are cheap and can easily tell you if you if one or more of your cells are going bad.
