Default ghost in my door update

O.K., I did the door latch micro switch replacement, which really was not that hard. The tough part is trying to remove the cadmium plated ( gold colored) door lock rods. One has a ball joint which pops off easily, the other uses a nylon split pin design. I could not get that thing off. I peeled away the rubber door gasket at the top of the back edge of the door and looked at the other side of this fastener. They use a tapered pin that is forced into the split pin forcing the pins "legs" to spread outward and hold the fastener in position. I took my trusty Dremel drill with a #32 bit and drilled through the center of the fastener from inside the door. It is important to drill through the center. I then took a small nail and using a small hammer, tapped the tapered pin out. I could now squeeze the split pin "legs" and remove the lock rod. Anyway, new switch works great, ony problem is now when the driver door is opened the message center says "passenger door opened" !!

Nice work, would have loved some visual aids with the very nice description. :-) I tried to imagine it but kept diverging from the project reading 'legs' and 'spreading...had to remind myself what act I was playing in my head.
