Greetings all. New member here. I am helping my friend with her 2000 XK8. Her glove box was broken into some time ago. The latch striker plates appear to be misaligned. This looks like an easy fix with a "star" screwdriver of the right size. The latches also do not both fully, smoothly extend. This appears to require that the cover over the latching mechanism be removed in order to check for broken springs, bent parts, etc. The cover plate is held in place by what look similar to "pop rivets" but look like they might need a special tool to be removed. Unlike some trim parts of other vehicles I have worked on, these trim attachments do not appear to respond to "gentle prying". Does anyone know if a special tool exists to remove these "rivets"? Also it looks like removing the entire glove box would make this task easier. Any guidance on removing the glove box would be most helpful. Thanks so much. Aloha

Post as many pictures as you think would help members to suggest solutions.
Those look like proper ‘pop rivets’ and, unfortunately, there is no special tool to remove them. You will have to drill them both out (a 3mm drill bit should do it). Be careful not to drill right through the Lid !. Once you have repaired the latch mechanism, you will need to re-rivet the cover back on.
