From personal experience, NTB had 4 chances to get it right...they failed all times (and I urinated away $175 for a 5-yr plan). Independent shop with knowledge of our suspension, or a dealer is who I recommend.

Alignments have a touch of artistic talent to them even with all the computer equipment used. The dealers around Atlanta have $99 specials. Not to say that the dealer will have a talented individual assigned to your car or that you will not find an experienced technician at Sears. I have used the local Ford dealer technician for a couple alignments and have been very happy with the results. During a discussion with the technician about wear on a non-Jaguar car he commented that if the factory settings were still producing uneven wear he would just adjust it until the wear was even.

One consideration is that if you are experiencing rear tire wear shims are required for an alignment that only the dealer will have.

Probably not but for $99 I might go to the dealer. You might also consider a high volume Ford dealer. About $70 around here.

Look in your local area for a good alignment specialty shop. The Jag dealer by me sends it out to be done as they don't have alignment equipment. Also the alignment I got from them was horrible. It was worse when I left then when I came in and they wanted to charge me to have it done again. I use firestone by me because the have great equipment and techs. Ask to see the alignment equipment and talk to they techs to see if they're knowledgable and make sure they can align all 4 properly. If they dont, you don't want to go there.

Also ask your dealer if they do the alignments in house.

When I recently head new Bridgestone Potenza's mounted on my 2005 XKR coupe I had a local shop here in Avon Park do a four wheel alignment. The shop that I chose had top of the line camera equipment that is remarkable, much more advanced then anything I have ever seen at the Jag dealer or one of the many franchise operations. Each wheel came up on video and matched up my car to Jaguar tech specs., identifying caster and camber values. To make a long story short these guys did an up town job with state of the art equipment for $69.95. If you happen to be rolling through Avon Park, Florida check out the good ole boys at Big T Tire; they will change your mind about what small town USA has to offer in the way of automobile savvy. I had almost driven 100 miles to the Jag dealer who wanted $325 to do the same yesterdays technology. If there is an interest here on the Forum I would be happy to find out the equip specs used for the alignment.

Regards to all.

Hi Tim,
Thanks, that is good to know. I'll probably need front tires sometime this year, so I'll give them a try then.
Regards,
Brian

Damn $325, i thought we were high at $170, and yes we have digital cameras too for our alignment equipment. It doesnt make a better alignment, it makes it faster to do. The person doing it makes all the difference
