How is a hard reboot done on 2000XK8?

You will find a good write up of the hard reset procedure in the sticky /diy just below the audio section, hope this helps

Disconnect the negative cable at the battery and touch it to the positive terminal for 15 sec.

Now you know HOW, the obvious question has to be WHY do you want to do a hard reset?

It will only reset 'learned' settings such as fuel trims to default values and isn't a method of clearing error codes.
