Default Hard water stains on rear convertible window.

Today I followed behind my Xk8 in another car while a friend drove it and I was so shocked to see how bad the hard water stains show from behind. I can see them inside, but I didn't realize how visible they are from a distance.
Does anyone have a good safe way to remove them? My mother used to use a half lemon with salt and scrub it off her fine crystal and it worked but salt and jaguar are not friends. Of course I could flood with water. Or I've heard lemon and vinager.
CLR works but its an acid so I don't think so.

I would wet a paper towel with CLR and rub them off.

They can be more than hard water stains even to acid rain etching the glass. Don't use any kind of rubbing compound as that can leave a very fine haze to the glass. I have used glass top stove cleaner with good results. Always with hand application. Never got the nerve up to use the DA buffer.

Didn't think about acid rain. Is that typical for these cars? How can I tell the difference?

Mister Clean Magic Eraser.

Now, does anyone know what I can do about the hard water stains in the rubber surrounding the rear glass?

Nev-r-dull works well on glass. It will even remove fine scratches.

On my XJS, I had stains on the rubber bumpers and I used duplicolor bumper coating. Used it on rear window surround as well. Worked perfectly!

I use CLR on a rag. GM used to sell a cleaner for windshields with noisy/jumping wiper issues. It came in a Delco box and contained a small bag of BonAmi inside.

CLR works very well on hard water stains. I'm too lazy to squeegee my frameless glass shower every day, so every few weeks I use a towel and CLR, and the very hard water stains melt away from the glass relatively easily.
