Question Hardware

Hi, currently working on XK8 suspension and wondering about sourcing third-party bolts/washers/nuts etc.
(OEM parts are pain due to unit & postage costs plus minimum order requirements).
Some online suppliers claim tensile strengths 8.8 -> 12.9 etc. How can you be sure of not unwittingly buying dubious far-east knockoffs!?
What's the best criteria, price and/or supplier?
Many thanks
Andrew

Hi multiplecats,

In the U.S., I purchase high-quality fasteners from industrial suppliers like McMaster-Carr. I'm sure there are similar companies in the U.K. that supply fasteners and other necessities to industrial customers. Perhaps one of our other members knows of one to recommend, but you may find some with an online search.

Cheers,

Don

I do this too, but from the local "Casa de los Tornillos" unless it's a specialty fastener. I notably do not do this with my Mini since BMW uses Torque To Yield bolts nearly everywhere.

Thanks guys. Bit envious of your McMaster-Carr but Accu.co.uk looks a good substitute.
