Default Having electrical issues

Just got back from the Keys and this is what I have that wrong or not working properly, I put these together because I was wondering if they are related.

I have no power to my lighter.

cruise control works sometimes, but mostly does not (light comes on when button is pressed)

When wipers set to 'Auto', they do not work.

Wiper spray button very rarely works, in fact it has only worked twice since I bought the car.

Also, does anybody have the fuse chart for a 2001 xk8?

TIA

Have you been collecting these issues over a period of time or did they just show up one morning?

Here is the fuse chart for a '02 XK8. Should not be any differences. If I remember correctly the cigar lighter is not listed anywhere.

As you're asking for the Fuse Chart, you don't have the Vehicle Care Manual so perhaps you don't have the Driver's Manual either to check how to set the wipers?

With Rain Sensitive wipers, the rotary collar has to be set to Auto and the stalk to Intermittent Wipe (first position up). If only Auto is set and the stalk is in the Off position, the wipers won't work.

The Wash issue could be the wiper stalk switch, the washer pump, the piping or the nozzles. What have you checked so far?

Check the fuses first. If they are all good, then get a test light and check for power on both sides of the fuse. If there is power on both sides, then unplug the wiring from the lighter socket and check for power there. If there is power, you need a new lighter socket. If there is no power there, check the wiring from the fusebox to the socket.

These cars are notorious for poor electrical contacts. As you identify the fuses pull them and spray a little contact cleaner and reinstall the fuses and/or relays. Looking at the items that you are having trouble with they seem to feed from the left and right fascia fuse boxes. I would start in that area first and see what takes place.

Have not checked anything yet, Just found out about cruise and wipers on the way down to the keys and no I do not have any manuals.

I only turned the collar to Auto, I will check that tonight.
Thanks Graham

And thanks Testpoint for the chart, I had found a 99 chart and it was not even close.

All the manuals (the full Vehicle Literature Pack) for your vehicle can be downloaded as PDF's from the link in the FAQ's:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-2003-a-67827/

Must be a lot of manuals sitting on PO's bookshelfs around the World.

Graham, maybe that's why there are manuals on ebay all the time. My car had been sold at auction before I bought it and had no records or manuals.

Oh yes. eBay - that's where manuals and remote fobs end up.
