Default Having trouble with programming keyless entry, I've read the other posts, please help

I have a 97 XK8 and I am trying to program the keyless entry remotes. The car came with one and it hasnt worked since Ive owned it. I tried the programming instructions several times, to no avail.

So, I bought another remote for this car on eBay (thinking maybe the remote was bad). I again have tried to program this several times.

When I am following the instructions, I do not hear any chrips. I also do not usually see the red light flash (next to park) and when I do it is VERY faint.

Any ideas what may be the problem? Operator error? I've changed the remotes batteries and used fresh ones. What can I look for next?

Thanks!

There has been reports of lack of 'chirps' but the indicator light must come on. It is not bright.

Since the fob you had didn't work perhaps it is the wrong one and you purchased another. The dealer can provide a part number based on your VIN to confirm. Worth checking that first.

Car battery fully charged? These cars are very sensitive to low voltage. Had any issues with the light switch/turn signal stalk? Several issues with broken wires there.
