Headlight assembly compatibility
Hello,
looking to replace a headlight on my 98. Will all years to 06 fit the car? Or is there a certain # of years I need to look for. Thanks! I did a quick search couldn't find an absolute answer.

Hi erron,
Congratulations on the new Cat. A running, rust-free XK for not much more than parts car money is a brilliant find
There are a few variants: some have the powerwash feature, and HID lamps were an option, although I believe that was only on the later cars. I'd recommend that you look for replacements from a similar MY car. They are also available new but the price will bring tears to your eyes.
You can review the variations by either loading the JEPC (available from the stickies), or forum sponsor SNG Barratt produces a catalogue:

As you still have the lenses, you can repair your existing for the time being by cleaning the mating surfaces on them and the headlamp units with a little isopropyl alcohol or similar, and running a bead of clear RTV around the join before pressing the parts together. I haven't done this on the XK, but it worked really well on the headlamps for my son's Mk2 Golf. Still good after 6 years or so.
