headlight lens removal
I am trying to figure out how or whether the the headlight lenses on my 1997 Xk8
can be easily removed to clean behind them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Removing the lenses themselves is tricky and will require heating and cutting the old lens sealant out - not recommended unless water is leaking in there and you plan on replacing the seal material.
The lense assembly can be split from the reflector assembly. You will need to remove the headlamp unit and GENTLY pry open the plastic clips (use a hot air gun to soften the clips slightly) that hold the 2 assembly parts together. You can then access the lense through the light appertures.
Be very (very) careful cleaning any of the reflector surfaces, a distilled water spray bottle and a low pressure air nozzle is about as far as I would go - the vacuum applied reflector material comes off very easily.

Thanks for your quick reply. I thought it may not be very easy. I don't have any water leakage
just a little dirt inside. The lenses are clear so I think I'll leave it alone. There is too great a chance of messing something up.
Thanks again.
