HEADLIGHTS

How can I remove condensation spots from inside headlight lens? Are inside of lens accessible and if so how. 1st Jag. 2001 XK8 CV. 31K miles, no,dings,dents,scratches, perfect interior, no cracks or worn spots. Always collected American Muscle with no problems from wife so I let her pick what she wanted for our 49th anniversary. Being a Brit she chose Jag. Very nice vehicle.

To clarify my question regarding 'condensation spots' had condensation inside lens, dried out and left spots which I would like to remove.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jaguar!

You have to remove the entire headlight assembly and then seperate the lens from the body. Not a big deal effort. Be very careful, the silver coating within the body will wipe completely off. DO NOT TOUCH IT. You cannot improve it. You can clean the interior of the lens.

Best place to start with your new toy is to find a copy of the JTIS manual on eBay. It is a complete factory manual, including all the electrical schematics on a CD. Several try to get up to $50 for it but I paid less than $15 delivered.

Then you have all your new friends on the Jaguar forums. Youmay enjoy the forums as much as the car.

And congratulation on the 49th year of marriage! My wife and I have been married for 8 wonderful years, not bad out of 45. A day here, a day there, it all adds up.

Thanks for the reply, ordered the disc from ebay as you suggested, read on another forum that you can remove light bulb assy. and access with a stiff wire with cloth on it (like a big Q tip) just be careful not to touch silver portion. Have you heard of that. Also, how difficult is it to remove headlamp assy? Going back to England this year to renew vows in church we were married in. Don't know how she put up with my antics when I was young, lucky I got smart.

If i'm not mistaken, your entire assembly is lined w/ the shiny chrome type, right? Isn't this where your condensation sediment is located? giant q-tip sounds rather dangerous

Headlights

The spots are on the lens, when the condesation droplets dried they left little spots on the lens. Not a big deal but the car is so clean other than that. Not a lot of them but it sure bugs me to know they are there.
