Heath and safety
Warning
Some readers may find the following pictures distressing - caution is advised
I have always considered myself a cautious person, especially where safety is concerned and entirely renovated our bungalow including fitting 2 new bathrooms a kitchen and log burner with not a scratch to my body.
However since the jag has entered my life things have changed.
First mishap was sitting under the wheelarch welding the chassis members (see my other post) and when I got to the 3rd and final layer I smelt something burning (other than the weld itself).
Now you welding chaps will understand when I say that the helmet only gives a limited visibility window, so I stopped welding, took off the mask and then noticed that my leg was on fire.
Well. I managed to put out the flames (which had by now started to hurt my leg) and saw that the reason for the fire was that the 3 layers of clothing and my overalls were all synthetic so a molten glob of weld just ignited it.
So I instantly made the decision to always wear some denim as one of the layers for protection.
So fast forward to last Sunday when I was fabricating my bush press (see other post) I used my angle grinder to cut through a thick steel girder.
Well you can imagine my relief that I was wearing my jeans underneath when I saw what all the flying sparks had done -
I feel soooooo lucky I was wearing them that day!
