Default Help 1: antenna seems out of sync

My electric antenna is no longer retracting completely. It seems to leave about 8" sticking up. I have tried resynchronising with the radio on-off button, but to no avail. I have also lubricated the antenna to make sure it's not just a mechanical problem.

Any ideas?

The nylon strip in your antenna is probably broken. Mine did what your is doing. It's an easy replacement and about $25.

First try spraying it with WD40 work it around the antenna operate the antenna and wipe it dry then do it again for 3 to 4 times. If your antenna is not broken internally this process will help in making it operate smoothly and consistently. Keeping it clean and dry is what you want to do. WD40 stands for water-displacing and the 40 means it took 40 attempts to create. In your case you need to keep it clean from dirt and the spray will do the rest. If this does not fix it replacing will be necessary and that is not hard.

I would use silicone spray since it will attract less dirt than the WD-40 will, it will also lubricate for much longer.

either way, if after lubrication, the antenna will not extend fully (or retract), you've got to replace the mast and that plastic geared spine-thingy. Instructions are on the forum for you to reference.

Many thanks for your helpful advice. I have both WD40 (never knew what that stood for - thanks!) and siicon spray in my garage, so I'll give them a try.

Thanks again.
