...OK, so I have a cranking but not firing '97 XK8 Conv. Engine management light stays on during cranking. I accept that I'll have to try replacing the crank sensor, but does it matter which of the two wires is which when you splice in the replacement sensor?

Any help gratefully accepted....

The CKP has a harness connector plug ..........



......... no splicing required.

but I'm not willing to do the extra five hours of work involved to get to said plug, to allow me to plug and play. The cable routing is something that even the engineers who designed my Range Rover would be ashamed of....

Searching the forums reveals a method of saving the time by putting new sensor on the end of existing harness, unless you can tell me any different...

I found the plug, so at least that should allow me to determine the correct colours to join.....
