help with identifying something strange

i noticed a wire poking out from under the plastic cover in the trunk and found this little thing..

any idea what that is?

yep its the light bulb holder for your trunk light, see the lense in your pic, yep that one, no go pull the trim back and put it back in before you melt something, and put the bayonet bulb back in first tho'
