Default Hesitation!

Car runs great with good gas mileage. However, upon quick acceleration, it pauses before it takes off. I had the TB rebuilt in March. When I reinstalled it, I bent the throttle cable, trying to put it back on. Wondering if the cable could be stretched or something. The cable is fairly taunt(not to slack), as it sits now. Also, at full throttle, the car doesn't take your breath away, like it did. Do you think the TB adjustment screw needs to be tinkered with, or is the hestation in this car common?

Slack in the cable will effect performance, but you say yours is taunt. Take off the intake hose and have a friend push the throttle pedal all the way to the floor while you watch the butterfly inside the throttle. Does it open to 90 degrees? (straight up and down)

If not, then your cable needs to be adjusted. Search the forum. There are several threads on this easy adjustment.

The first time I checked mine, it was only opening about 60%. Made a huge difference when adjusted correctly. Taking up the cable slack cured the hesitation as well.

A sufficiently capable code reader can display the percent Throttle Position Sensor opening. Sounds like you repair efforts left it a little less capable than of fully open.

+1 on checking throttle butterfly is fully opening.

Also, when the TB was removed / rebuilt / re-installed, did you do a battery disconnect? The JTIS procedure for battery reconnect after a TB refit on the 1999 N/A is:

The battery disconnect/reconnect is done to clear the learned fuel trims and put them back to default settings for a new or reconditioned TB.
