Default hitting bump makes it go into limp mode ?

Will out of balance tires or vibration in front end or hitting a bump cause car to go into limp mode ? I've had this happen twice. I disconnected the battery and it reset the computer and drove fine after that. Any help is appreciated.

I would first check the many battery and ground connections that you will find in the electrical guide. The JTIS 21 factory manual can be downloaded from a sticky and a lot of info is found at jagrepair.com.

Do you have the cruise control on? (even when it's not engaged) Mine did the same thing until I figured out it was the Brake/Cruise control switch. I'm awaiting the part now.

Arrr . . . my money is on [GroovyMom] but I admit to being biased, so only with codes as suggested by [fmertz], will a structured diagnosis be assured.

My first call for a "stop & no start" would always be inertia switch . . . however, I have now seen 3 cars with TPS induced faults such as reported here. On the second, it was a failure that necessitated replacement, but both the other two suffered from nothing more than loosened fixings that allowed the pot to waggle about. Once diagnosed and thanks to Locktite, problem resolved. The third was just 2 weeks ago, on a mate's car, hence my bias.

Best wishes,

Ken
