Default Hole in Sill..repaint

Just failed the MOT big time.
One was the normal corrosion on the rear of the sill. All repaired now but what paint to use to replicate that subtle bumpy finish ...tried a couple of cans but not so effective.

I think that I recall hearing many years ago that the original product used by Jaguar was made by 3M. You could search their product line or maybe give them a call. I don't think that there is anything else which is quite the same.

The closest finish to the XK8 original that I've used on an old Sprite was Stoneguard. It's put on with an air supplied gun like the one below. I bought water based stoneguard from a commercial auto paint supplier rather than the DIY auto store. I then sprayed with primer, base coat and finished with clear. It's not a quick fix but will last well.

That's perfect! You should be able to get the stoneguard that will take that gun. I experimented on some cardboard to get the best finish. The product spatters onto the surface and the air pressure setting determines coverage, bump size and smoothness.
