Default Rear wings/boot - Paint or Wax? Advice please

Lower rear wing sections accessible from inside the boot.
I have been de-rusting these for a couple of weeks now but were quite bad and still aren't perfect but haven't yet caused bubbling on the exterior of the wing.
Question I have is whether to paint with a good anti-rust paint with the risk of moisture creeping under the paint causing more rust in the future OR whether to use a 'corrosion prevention' wax e.g. Dinitrol ML which I have already injected into the chassis rails and sills?
I am leaning towards the wax but realise that if it doesn't work then it will be a b*tch to remove if I want to paint later.
Any ideas please?

Regards
Mark

You first need to treat the area with a rust converter, which is generally
phosporic acid. Unless of course that is what you mean by de-rusting.

Plums,
Yes I have used some quite expensive rust removal solution that is used in the aviation industry, however the area is quite pitted so I am never going to get down to 100% shiny steel.
I am just doing final prep (whilst we have some sunshine today) and am considering painting it then when dry flooding the area with Dinitrol.
I think that most UK XK8s will have this problem as it seems to be a rust-trap area.

In a similar situation, I did the rust conversion, then covered the whole thing
in fiberglass + epoxy. The thought was that once oxygen could not get to
the remaining rust, the rust could not progress.

The rustbusters paint I am using is 2-part epoxy so hopefully I will get similar results.

The reason for my question was that in a similar situation where access is limited e.g. chassis rails the normal procedure would be to use wax with the expectation that it would halt further corrosion.

This should be the last bit of painting before the (rebuilt) rear axle assy gets reunited.

Can't wait to get it back on its rear wheels again .

I would be satisfied with the two part epoxy paint as a sealer.
