Default hoses which are the worst for breaking 99xk8

Hi all:

I just replaced the two big hoses on the rad. They were weak. While I was under the car I noticed there are some hoses. I am just wondering what has been peoples issues with them. The cars are getting older and if you were going to replace before breaking what ones would you people suggest. This is other than the convert top hoses. Is there common ones that seem to all go ???

If your XK8 has the oil cooler (not all do) the oil cooler hoses fail at the crimp and have been replaced with a revised version.

The only issue I have had is the lower radiator hose. I replaced it an the upper at the same time while flushing and replacing the coolant. The hose wasn't weak from age, but had rubbed on the fan shroud where there is a fin that cut into it. Since you just did it, you know first hand what a pain it is to replace that particular hose. Just as a note of caution, I would make sure your hose isn't riding on the same fin. Graham mentioned a solution to shorten the hose where it enters the engine and twist the hose so it rides a little higher to eliminate the problem. I did this to the new hose and shouldn't have any more problems. It might be worth doing yourself just to prevent any future trouble.

Here was my experience with it: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...or-hose-71932/

I wish I'd replaced the little plastic connector before it broke.

But this is on my 2000 XKR.
