Default Hot restart problems solution

Hi all thought I would put this up as I saw a few people having this problem. Car is hard to start right after shutting down hot untill it cools off.
this is usually caused by the fuel in the fuel rails boiling when the car is turned off.
Why you ask, the fuel pressure is supposed to be held in the fuel rail by the closed injectors and the check valve in the fuel pump. This pressure raises the boiling point of the fuel keeping it liquid if the pressure drops the fuel can boil basically causing a vapor lock and when you go to start the engine the fuel pump only fires for a couple seconds not enough to get fuel back to the injectors.
to check this put a fuel pressure gage on the fuel rail run the car and when you shut it off it should hold pressure and not drop off quickly. If it drops quickly either there is stuck open injectors or the check valve in the fuel pump is leaking.
You can test to see if it is injector or check valve by blocking the fuel line feed to the fuel rail and pressurizing the fuel rail through the Schrader valve (i just use a small bicycle air pump with a gauge) if pressure drops it's one of the injectors stuck open, if it holds, because you have the fuel line blocked off i suggest the check valve in the fuel pump is leaking.
a cheap fix is install a check valve in the fuel line or replace the fuel pump assembly.
As always when working with fuel and pressure take precaution, no sparks, drain pressure before disconnecting, be prepared for spills.
Hope this helps, this is typically for all cars

Thanks for this post. I’ve had this problem since I bought the car 15 years ago. I avoid taking it out when the temp is much more than 75 degrees

My pleasure just one of the things I found if the fuel pressure drops off quickly on the fuel rail when shut down hot it will boil the fuel.
glad I could help
We all grow when we share Knowledge

You have more patience than I do. I would’ve done the ”Elvis repair” after the first time the car refused to “go”.
