How far did you travel to buy your XK8/XKR?
George Androulakis found it for us in Jacksonville, Florida just before it headed to the auction. We had it shipped directly to our house, probably 450 to 500 miles or so. When it arrived, we had a short walk to the end of our driveway to sign the delivery manifest and take possession....
After looking for over a year here in Canada, 878 miles, flew down to DC drove her back, sight unseen, but inspected by dealer in Annapolis MD. Never regretted it for a minute, a couple seconds here and there but never a full minute!
1154 miles from St. Petersburg FL to Fort Worth TX. It found me on the internet and after corresponding with owner getting as much info and pictures as possible decided to fly out and see/drive it first hand. All worked out.
Annoyingly, only 8 miles! In fact, it was less than a mile from the office. I love a good road trip to find the best car, but this one found me. I've done more than a few cars in the past that came from NJ, VA, TN and CO. I've always happily flown out and driven them home. It's one of my favorite things to do to get to know a new car, and get to see this beautiful country of ours at the same time. Real mini vacation over a weekend.
I cheated a little bit. I had my 06 XKR Victory Edition Coupe shipped from Pompton Lakes, NJ to Dallas, TX. I didn't want to put the miles on it because it only had 32k racked up in 5 years.
Not really the place for this but I have been looking for pricing on my XKR lately but I never see any reference to the Victory Edition. It has about $12k worth of upgrades from the standard XKR. Anyone know what the going rate for my 85k mi. vehicle might be? Just wondering.

I flew down to Miami, prepared to return by airplane (if . . .), looked at (soon to be) my eleven-year-old XK8 with 13,500 miles on it, bought it, and drove it 1500 miles back to Oklahoma, enjoying every mile, top down and top up, while adding over ten percent to its total mileage.
around 2600 miles from my home in Massachusetts to Scottsdale, Arizona. I was looking for 7 months before I found the right one. I found this one on AutoTrader but I also used CarGurus, Cars for Sale, Cars.Com, and some others. There were lots of XK8s in Florida, some good some bad. I even found a couple here in Massachusetts.
We're in expatriation in France, returning to the US for good in a couple of weeks. Had been looking for the right XKR or XK8 coupe since April. Came across what looked like a unique find in central Texas on Cars.com. Corresponded with the owner, decided I didn't want to take the chance to let it get away, did my due diligence as best as possible and bought it without seeing it in person (don't try this at home as they say on television). Seller agreed to deliver it to my sister in East Texas where she is storing it for me in her garage.
All went without a hitch. I was back in the states in May and got to spend a week with my new ride. Super find on a super spec'd, well maintained car, so the risk paid off.
So I traveled either something over 5000 miles or a little over 350 miles depending on how you look at it !

We drove about 1000 miles round trip from New Orleans to Nashville to pick up our 05MY. That was December 31, 2005. The car had been on lease from Dec. 2004 with 30K and qualified for the remainder of manufactures warranty. At 114K miles now.
About 600 miles thru 4 countries. I flew down to Holland from Sweden for a job, saw her at a dealer across the street from my hotel , bought her, finished the job and flew home. She arrived on a trailer a week later.
I just had to cross Daytona Beach river to find my XK8, tht is about 2 miles. I was not looking for it, but I saw it when passing a car dealer, and fell in love...
Two days later it was in my yard.

I put about 800 miles on my car driving around the southeast looking at XK8s .... then all of a sudden a great XKR pops up in the interweb less than 100 miles from my house. Picked it up that day.
