I've been looking for a project xk8 to do a engine swap with a ls1 engine

I found one a 1999 xk8 convertible with 140k it's in my price range the engine seems to have the Nikasil Problem or a double blown head gasket the interior has a tear on the seat and it's missing the j-gate surround the exterior needs new paint

What do you guys think a good price for a xk8 in the condition

 

My guess would be in the $2000 to $4000 range.

 

I just paid $6K for a 97 with 56K. The car appears to be in great shape inside and out. Of course, time will tell. For the car you described, I would say <$2K.

 

$1k-$1.5k The paint and blown engine together will make it a tough sell.

 

I agree with dsnyder. You have a lot of expenses to put into the car to bring it back, probably greater than its worth when finished if you pay any more.

 

if your '97 is without issues and is 'straight', you got a good deal.

 

buy it for $12-1500, part it out and make a couple thousand, and keep looking for a nicer one for your conversion. If you're going through all the effort, why not make it a 'nice' one?!!!
