How often do you change your motor oil and what kind do you use?

There's an old saying in the aviation business: airplanes fly in spite of people, not because of people.

I think your BIL's example offers more proof that engines are inherently reliable and durable- in spite of what people do to them. I follow these threads not expecting to learn anything but I guess to follow the perceptions of consumers. The results of short term use of any oil or filter being used as a firm indicator of quality is misleading.

i drive less then 3000 k a year,[per car].and i still like to change oil every year with mobil one.

I never understood how for so many years Fram got the reputation of being a great filter. Take one apart sometime and see. It's total crap - looks like paper-thin elements housed in cheap tin, assembled by half-drunk workers in some third world sweat shop. Utter garbage compared to the NAPA/Wix line and many others.
