Default How to Remove Seat Control Module

Hi,

I have a 2004 xk8. I spilled a 64 ounce Iced Tea, and now, the passenger side recline and foreward/aft controls don't work. I thought I'd swap the passenger and driver side modules, as was suggested in a different thread, in order to determine whether it is module or motor.

However, I can't figure out how to get the darn thing out (passenger side, right now.) The module is willing to slide in a 45 degree angle (toward the window), but, can't get the other side (pass. window side) to come free. The seat is all the way forward so not easy to get my fat head in there. (By the way, is there a way to manually move the seat back?)

Thanks to all you smart people out there. I appreciate your experience.

Might check the fuse before operating further on the seat. It may have blown and now dried out enough to not short out again. Fuse 1 on the passenger side fascia fuse panel.

There are 2 bolts holding the module in place. Sounds like one is still in place. Otherwise it should just slide out.

And, no, the seat cannot be moved without a functional module. Worst case, take the seat out. Only four bolts but that is almost impossible with the seat in a rearward position.

Spray circuit board with WD40 or another water displacing product.

Sixty four ounces in the cup holder?

Thanks for the reply. I've tried changing the fuse, no luck.

Are those bolt reached from the front or the back? I'm having difficulty finding them.

Yes, 64 oz in the cup holding. Damn cups with narrowing bottoms, otherwise, it wouldn't have fit, wouldn't have spilled, and I wouldn't have been looking for the bolts!

The bolts are on the four corners in the sliding bar. If the seat is max forward the front ones are going to be hard to get to.
