Default 05/06 Factory Bluetooth - Do You Have ?

Hey guys,

So I recently got an 06 XK8 with the Alpine Premiun System, w/Navigation, w/Bluetooth.

For the past couple of years I have been using Bluetooth with my Garmin portable system, so I know the bluetooth in the phone is pretty stable.

However, since I have gotten the bluetooth connected in the JAG it's totally reliable.

About 30% of the time when I start the car, the car thinks it has placed a call and the stereo shows the call duration.

About 70% of the time when I answer an incoming car I get dead silence in the car. This occurs whether the car is stopped or moving at speed.

About 20% of the time when I answer an incoming car, I get about 40% of the conversation through the car speakers

About 10% (or less) I get acrystal clear connection through the blue tooth system, and I can carry on a conversation with the top down (windows up) at up to 70mph.

Over 3/4 of my outgoing calls are silent. So I have stopped initiating calls from the car unless I am parked.

Does anyone else with this system have any experience they could share. Am I unique ? or is this typical for this system ?

I doubt it is related but the Navigation system is without a satellite connection about 30% of the time. And usually only has a green satellite signal 20% of the time. Most of the time the navigation system is off by at least a couple of blocks.

My last car was an 06, when I first got it the dealer replaced the blue tooth module
According to them it was an updated version, of what orig came with the car.
I had no problems with it after that, I was using a Moto V3

I also had a little problem with the nav being off a few blocks but
that was rare.

The bluetooth in my '06 works well. However, with the top down, I can't carry on a conversation with anyone. Too much background noise for them to hear well if I'm going faster than 30 mph or so. I have a Verizon Razor.

Thanks for the responses.

I understand about the windnoise. But I have had two conversations via bluetooth at freeway speeds with the top down without any issues being heard, or hearing the conversation. However, most of the time I hear nothing regardless of the speed I am travelling.

The car is going into the shop for a couple of weeks ( I was hit by a drunk driver) and I will ask about the updated bluetooth module.

Thanks,

Dave

Default How do I know?

I just bought on 06 XKR Conv. It has the Victory Edition package which I thought meant it would come with Blue Tooth. It has a microphone near the rearview mirror. It has a manual for Blue Tooth. But when I follow the instructions to add a phone (push the phone icon, dial ##3#*# or something like that) it just says "No Phone." How do I know if I have Blue Tooth? If I have it, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

The Bluetooth will only work with certain phones! Your phone may not be compatible.

Default Bluetooth

Lew,

Thanks for the reply. I understand my phone may not be compatible, but I cannot even get to that point. According to the manual, I am supposed to hit the phone icon button, enter the code, and it will say "discovering" or something like that. Only then do I activate my phone and would I find out if the phone is compatible. But when I hit the phone icon button, it says "no phone" and never gets to discovering. The code does nothing Am I doing something wrong? Do I not have Bluetooth?

Thanks again,

Brian.

Dave--it seems like you have had the worst run of bad luck with the car. First was considerable undercarriage damage from hitting a rock and now a drunk driver. How bad was this latest incident?

BKRPDX-

If you'd like to e-mail me the last 6 digits of you're VIN I can run your options and see if you have the bluetooth module installed.

If you give me your phone model I can run that by their compatability list as well.

That goes for anyone else here too..

Thanks

Malc-

This car does not have the factory bluetooth system installed. I don't believe that sat. radio was available as an option until 08.

There doesn't seem to be any unusual options on this car either that wouldn't be obvious. Navigation, cd changer..

Thanks
-David
