Default HOW TO: Replace the bulbs in the climate control unit (video)

I actually ended up doing this twice. It turns out that I didn't actually have any bulbs burnt out the first time. I thought the bulb that is supposed to illuminate the fan speed knob was dead, but it wasn't. The way the innards of the unit are made it is just difficult for the light to get over to the knob. So I reassembled everything, and wouldn't you know it, one of the bulbs I had been fiddling with was now inoperative. And it was the worst bulb of all to burn out. Half of my temp display was lit up, the other half wasn't. So I went to the dealer, got some more bulbs, and made a video of the repair procedure this time.

Matt, if this video is redundant to your pictures, just combine it with your thread and we'll have all of the info in one single place.

By the way, this video is in high definition. To make it bigger, click where it says "360" on the bottom right. That will bring up a selection where you can choose "720", which will make it much bigger and easier to see.

Never hurts to have more info Rev, good job on the video. Strange you had a single green bulb! I may have found a way to get some more light to those side areas next to the display (F/C and EXT) and the fan control knob. I'm in the middle of an experiment, and will update the 'backlit or not' thread when I have some conclusions.

I think at some point before I owned the car a bulb must have needed to be replaced. The parts guy asked that person the same question: is your dash blue or green? Mine looks green, but I knew for sure that it used blue bulbs, so I told him blue. The other person probably said green.

Although, I've been wondering if maybe that bulb was supposed to be green. It was the bulb behind the red and blue temperature arrows. It looks fine with the blue bulb, but who knows?

Thanks Reverend! Now, what is the part number on those bulbs? I must have missed it.

Great video! I just pulled mine apart, and both bulbs were blue, but one has a black base, and one has a slightly larger brown base. Does anyone know the difference between the two?

I think Honda sells the bulbs like that as well. I'll check the PN in a few days.
