Default I did a baaaaadddd thing

I tend to get carried away with cars. 1 is never enough. So now besides my 2004 xjr I am the proud owner of a 2001 xkr convertable. Its a project and I will likely need some help as there are a few known issues.

Issue 1 is the ABS light is on allthough it brakes fine.
Issue 2 is the transmission got stuck in gear during the test drive (which was over an hour) Then fixed itself when I shut it off an dstarted it back up

I read up on both issues and Im confident the transmission issue is that separator plate that holds the solenoids. Im going to do that job regardless with a fluid change and the sleeve for the plug

The ABS...Well.....No Idea..But I will run codes to see whats upo with the car in general.

Anyway its pretty cool..Kind of like the batmoobile. Been lowered 2 inches has a matte black paint job and the walnut was covered by Carbon fiber wrap. Doesn tlook all that bad allthough I would have stuck with the wallnut. Anyway here it is. For $6,000 I think Im doing pretty good. Suspension was tight engine purs and runs well after my hour ride and the motor had been replaced. For now its just getting it up to snuff. Then a few mods...Oh it has some exhaust work also

Any thoughts on what I should be looking at right off the bat im open for suggestions:O)

Thanks for looking!

Congratulations on the new ride. Looks like you have a strong stable already.

The ABS light is a very common issue. Search the forum (if you haven't already) and you will find tons of threads on the subject. The usual culprits are the wheel sensors (they get dirty), wiring to the sensors gets frayed or damaged, and the ABS module loves to break solder connections on the pc board.

Good luck and have fun with your project. And welcome to the other part of the Jag forum.

p.s. can't open your pictures

I just treid to open photos..STRANGE..I will try once more....Im thinking of a brake upgrade while I am looking into ABS. Do the later model 4 piston calipers interchange such as the ones on my xjr?

Lets try again!

The 4 photos are each only 1kB files. That's why they are as small.

I'm pretty sure that the Brembos require special uprights for attachment. This means suspension mods as well as brake install. Be sure you have the 20" wheels designed to clear the brakes. You will also need new rotors to match. Keep in mind the cross-drilled Brembo rotrs are somewhat pricey and really not worth it as far as braking performance goes, but they do look great!
