Default I had a nightmare last night

I was driving the Jag in what appeared to be Cuba, when I got a red warning light with the message “Block failure”. Simultaneously the temperature was rising. A search on the forums was even scarier, with the information being that a block failure would almost invariably include a fire.

Well, I thought to myself “I’m lucky, no fire”. To which, after my inquiry here you guys responded “it could be that the sensors and electrical systems are giving me a false warning”.

I then popped the hood to check for evidence of a fire. There was none, but that is when I noticed severe rust on the engine heads, the block, and even the transmission bell. That’s when I realized “alluminium doesn’t corrode that way”, and then I woke up.

I am now afraid to drive my car.

LOL, I'm somewhat afraid everytime I take mine out but what the heck. If I can't drive it what's the sence in owning it. So far so good, did get a DSC fault two days ago, first time, pulled over restarted and no more issue. Will see what the future holds!

Which part was not cool? Jon's burrito reference or your Mexican labeling ?

People are so f-ing sensitive nowadays. No..wait...I may have just offended sensitive people...nevermind.

Glandaniel, it seems to me he respectfully joined into your tongue in cheek / smile story.

For pretty much all my life I've heard folks tie spicy food / stomach upset to bad dreams. He played off that age old joke. He mentioned a food that produces gas and a spicy food that may upset some folks stomach.

how did "Mexican" even get into this? Your heading says you're from Puerto rico. Your dream was in Cuba.

Lord knows I've posted fun stuff that landed flat, it kind of sucks for the author, but what can you do?

you've always been so nice, maybe something came out wrong? Based on that I almost didnt respond, but at some point silence becomes acceptance or endorsement .

maybe you were just ribbing him back?

I hope you are ok.

John

I will say that I once had a bunch of spicy Thai food, alcohol and decided while slesle to put Taxi Driver on. I zoned in and out to the movie and it is influenced my dreams. I really think that in and out dream was the most intensely scary moment in my entire life.

Moral - Spicy food and creepy/scary movies don't mix.

Seems it was a cultural barrier. I had never heard of the spicy food thing. It made no sense as I read it. However, now that you have explained it, I take back what I said.

My comment was nothing but a reference to spicy food causing sleep issues for many people, as others have now explained to you. If I crack any more jokes in your direction, I will explain them to you immediately afterwards....

I now understand that. Having lacked the background knowledge of the spicy food/sleep issues, it didn't come off as a joke. I interpreted it as you saying that I am a mexican and I should not eat before bed.

People, myself included, forget that what is common knowledge to people of one culture, is not so for others. Here on the island, I have never heard the spicy food before bed causing sleeping issues. That may be due to our diet not relying heavily on hot and spicy foods. It is said, however, that if your nightmare involves losing teeth, that someone close to you will soon die.

It's cool. I'm sorry for being quick to react.

No worries. As you stated, cultural differences came into play....
