Yesterday the idle on my 06 Victory Edition XKR altered into a lower state, around 400 rpm while stopped and in gear. Shortly after the engine light appeared in amber mode flashing three times and disappearing. Then today the engine light came on, still low idle, and 'RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE' also displayed. I am wondering what happened in such a short time, any clues out there? I thought I smelled a 'rubber' aroma about a week prior to all this happening, and I also changed out my air filter, not sure if that may have significance here? Any thoughts are appreciated.

When you replaced your air filter did you remove the air box in order to do it? That is indeed the best way to assure that everything goes back together properly. Check your air box again to ensure it is snapped together properly and that you did not break anything else in that area while doing the job....

 

Sounds like a code reader like a cheap ELM327 and a mobile app would provide you great input...
