If only I were in the market.

That red would catch the eye of every cop within a half mile. 10K miles.....needs to be driven. Yeah, almost $25K is still too much considering it will still need some upgrades.

Gorgeous! Love the red even as much as my darker red one. The price is steep, however, it's a dealer and an asking price, not necessarily the sales price. Hmmm, do I need a backup one, as mine just passed 100k?
That is great although it's a convertible, too girly for me. The build date indicates it wouldn't have the newer tensioners installed though.
I saw on craigslist an 02 xk8 coupe with 38k on it owned by an older gentleman and parked in a garage most of the time that's my sorrow! The build date on

How did you get the build date? Were you able to cross reference the VIN to the engine vin/build date? My 02 has the new tensioners as the engine build date was several months after the change over
I told myself that I would not react to such a post where obviously one who is not comfortable in his own masculinity would comment on the gender bias of a soft or hard top, so I won't.
This car is sexy soft or hard, and if you consider the lines that of a shapely woman lying on her stomach, then I do not know how you can equate the ownership of one version or the other more masculine or feminine. Me, I would not own the hardtop, simply because I enjoy motoring around town as open and free and taking in the elements as possible. Sun, wind, vistas.... these things you cannot get in a tightly wrapped tin can.

+1. Couldn't put it better. So if it being red, and convertible somehow makes me appear gay (LMFAO) so be it!
No way the XK8 ragtop would ever be considered too girly for anyone....
In fact, per a Car Talk article a number of years ago, the Top Three Girliest Cars On The Planet are as follows:
Coming in at number three is the Lexus RX300 SUV....
Holding down the number two spot is the Mazda Miata....
And hands down, the number one girly car is the Volkswagen Cabriolet...
Rumor has it that if you own all of these cars at the same time, you win a lifetime subscription to Oprah magazine, a weekend spa getaway in Key West, and a year's worth of weekend cooking lessons from Racheal Ray....

All the engines were built at Bridgend in South Wales and sent in batches to the Jaguar factory at Brown's Lane in England. An engine can have been built weeks or months before the car finally came off the production line. The engine in my car was built three months before the car was completed.
The engine number gives the exact date and time it was completed. When considering changeover in tensioners, this is the information required.
As far as I can see, the engine number is not quoted in the advertisment or in the Carfax report.
