Have a 2000 XKR w/60k miles. Drive 10-15 miles, shut engine off, wait 15 minutes, restricted mode kicks in. First time it cleared on it's own in 2 min. Second time took 10 minutes to clear Naturally, can't duplicate at all. I'm thinking of just changing all coils, as all are original. Any suggestion as to which ones to buy? I see them from $24 ea to $100 ea. Any particular brand known to be junk? The consensus seems to be coil(s), but some say small chance could be injector, but as symptom doesn't set a code, it's a crap-shoot.

Whose consensus indicates coils? That would be one of my last choices. Check for fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail, but us a rag to catch the fuel if it spurts to keep it off the exhaust manifold.

 

Failing battery maybe. How long have you had the car?
