So I screwed up...

I have a 1999 XK8. The key fob didn't come with the car, and the replacement I purchased has never worked. I also installed a used ABS module, and since the "stability control failure" indication has been on constantly.

The information I received indicated I needed to associate the module with the ECU, and the immobilizer was the root cause for my key fob not working.

So I borrowed a Topdon Pheonix pro from work. This is where things go south...

I was screwing around with the Topdon. I had an option to "reset immobilizer." I clicked it and followed the instructions. The car has not started since.

Prior to this, the car started perfectly reliably each and every time. I've tried locking and unlocking, turning the ignition on and off repeatedly and nada. Turns over fine, but never starts. Tried using the Topdon to add a key. Nada.

Have I completely hosed my ECU? Any idea how to get the car starting again?

Incidentally, I never even got to the point where I tried to associate the brake module.

 

key remote has nothing to do with immobilizer.

immo setup doesn’t work on topdon/launch, i tried it for ***** and giggles and the KTM lost sync to the BPM as you just found out. IDS recovered it no problem. adding key transponders (physical key) works great though for future reference

either way you need a cheap IDS/SDD setup to fix it.

 

Any IDS/SDD you would recommend?
