INFO from Members who have completed an XK8/R XJ8/R etc manual conversion
Note: For Jaguar motors only. Not GM motor swaps.
Hello all, I am currently in the process of converting my Xkr to a manual transmission.
For those folks who have already completed your project can you list some Information
Motor used
transmission used
clutch used
Flywheel used/built by
engine management used
pedalbox used or cluch pedal mod
Anything else you encountered that would help the next member out.
Thank you.

There are a few members on this forum with the GM-based kit from Jaguar Specialties. This conversion kit is only for the earlier 4.0 cars, to my knowledge as it uses a custom CAN bridge translator to pass along key GM CAN messages on to the Jaguar CAN bus (think vehicle speed for the speedometer, etc.). To my knowledge, the required reverse-engineering has not been done yet for the later 4.2L ECMs.

Thank you for your response. The post was intended for Jaguar motors with manual swaps and not GM swaps.
Well, there was that one-off XKR with a manual transmission featured on Top Gear that one time. "Incorrect Part Fitted" scrolling around and all.
Another one-off is that older XK8 with an S-Type (diesel?) manual box. Owner seemed to have kept the old auto box TCM running somehow to keep the system happy.
This is not a common project. You can search this forum, the subject comes up periodically, but there is no ready-made well worn path to this, even after all these years. It would be fair to say it is in the not-impossible phase, with one-off projects here and there.

Trying to decide whether the posture below ('direct engine squat') would be better or worse for my back than my usual 'crippled crane' posture.
Frankly Jon, I think you re going to need a wider engine, something like a Cadillac Eldo, mid 70s. That would be a swap, gain 4.2 L of displacement, lose 100 Hp.
Admire your ambition, Dwbridge87.
