Smile info share - painted break calipers and engine bay clean up

Hi All,

share some pic's of some maintenance work on the xkr this weekend - painted all break calipers and cleaned/creased/polished everything - incl. cleanup of the engine bay - good way to learn to know the car better and check that all the bushings/hoses are fine.

I used a spot just inside the "white dot" jackpoints in the front and the "black dot" jack points in the rear to lift up the car as I have the Arden full body kit mounted on mine.

It is. I have all the wheels off my cars every six months to check brakes and suspension.

thanks John - first cleaned it with anti grease and a water/soap rag, then I used a vinyl cleaner similar to "tyre/bumper shine" for the plastic, silicon spray for the rubber/hoses and autosol for polishing the metal/aluminium. for the metal polishing I first rubbed the autosol in several times then used a polishing rotating machine with a lambswool disc.

thanks prettybluefin - I seen picture's of Your car and it looks amazing, if You add the Arden body kit then it's perfect if You ask me. My kit contains front spoiler, scooped side skirts, and rear bumper cover (not the extension). I checked how mine is installed and it seams quite easy, all parts are bolted to the frame and the accuracy of fit is excellent.
