I got one of these for my 50th birthday today. Going to put it in my F-Type soon. Is it necessary to do the download first or can it just be installed on the car and configured with the console switch easily? I ran into firewall issues with the download, but The configuration via the top switch seems difficult.

My blood pressure starts going up every time I try to download software or program a remote control which is a personal problem but nonetheless this is a bit more daunting than I had hoped. At least this one has instructions in English. I still have one in the box for a Mercedes that only had instructions in German.

Sort of expected this to be pre-configured for the car.

Anyone near Seattle with experience programming one of these?

 

Nookieman, this unit is for the early (pre-2006) XK8/Rs not the F Type.
