Default Intake Manifold question....

Hey guys,

I've been chasing a couple rich codes, and my mechanic said I have a cracked intake manifold on my 99 XK8 conv. I found a Jag parts supplier that has a nice used assembly, but he told me to be sure about the part number before he ships. That said, does anyone know if they used multiple intakes in 99, and/or if I call the dealer and give them the VIN, should they be able to give me a part number? It's a bit of work to get it taken off, and I'd like to get the part to ship asap so that it can be done all at once. Thanks for the help -

I'm afraid I can't help, but am curious about something.

Pretty clear how a cracked manifold could cause a lean condition, by admitting un-metered air. But I can't see how it could cause a rich condition. Did he say?

Yes, the dealer can give you the part number based on VIN in the parts catalog. I see 3 different part numbers for the 4.0. If you post the last 6 digits of the VIN I can give you the correct one. What I cannot tell you, but the dealer can, is if some of them are interchangeable.

Uh, er, good question....I've been chasing PO172 and PO175 for a long time now, and I've replaced air filter, MAF, etc and still had both. Then replaced the fuel pressure regulator and PO172 went away. Still have PO175 and he said there was a leak in the intake. I guess we'll see....

WhiteXKR - last 6 of VIN are 031976 - thanks!

Your intake manifold is part number NNE3002CC. It looks like they only made about 1500 cars with that manifold, then the number changed to AJ82546. A dealer website says BOTH those numbers are superseded by a new number now: AJ83963.

Hmmm....interesting. Here is the info I was given on the part, nowhere near those numbers? Strange.

Numbers from the Intake Manifold:

XW93-9425-CB

XW93-9C663-CD

PA66-6F35K

Any thoughts on this being as none of those match up to any that you sent over?

I tried those numbers on this dealer site: Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com
and they do not come up as valid.

OK, I'll do some more research. A few different suppliers on ebay have them, and they are all referencing numbers similar to the ones I sent. I guess I need to go ahead and take mine off before I do anything.

I have seen before where the number imprinted on the part is not actually the number the part is sold under...that may be the case here.
