One of the bulbs has failed on my high level brake lamp assembly so I guess I need to replace the whole thing. Does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement that doesn’t cost a months wages like the Jag part?
Personally I would dismantle it ...you will find the leds have a series resistor and it may be that rather than the led that has failed. Or replace with a set of incandescent bulbs ie filament bulbs
^^
I agree with trying to dismantle it first, but beware that the plastic is very fragile after years in the sunlight.
I had to repair mine recently as one of the retaining clips had detached from the rear window glass. From memory, there are about 20 LEDs, and they are similar to these devices:
Thanks for the advice. Is it actually possible to replace individual LED lights or are they all part of one assembly? I’m thinking about just plugging in any assembly I can find on Amazon that fits the connector as I only need it to pass what is called Shaken here (roadworthy inspection) They don’t care what you have attached as long as all bulbs are functioning.
