Interchangable Amplifiers?
Hello Debbie, and greetings from down under . . .
Short answer? I don't know, coz unsure if anyone's tried.
Super short answer? I doubt it!
Why? Simply because the XK8, unlike the S-Type and XJ platforms, used a unique Alpine system with proprietary everything that is not common to other Jags - even for connectors. Most here upgrade to either premium or go full-on modern audio. perhaps including up-to-the-minute integrated SatNav.
If I'm wrong, don't give me a hard time. My audio works . . . and I'm deaf in one ear anyway! However, replacing my "Orphan Anny" SatNav, and perhaps including an auto overide rear camera display . . . well, I'd like to see that!
Best wishes,

Ken

Well I certainly had a Harmon Kardon audio system in my 1999 XKR coupe (my 2001 convertible has an Alpine system). Have you checked the part numbers on the two amps to see if they are the same?
No i havent checked the part numbers. I really should. Its not that tough, but i thought someone might know off the top of your heads. They look the same but i really should verify to make sure by matching part #s.
The part numbers for the amps are different, even between the coupe and convertible, that doesn't mean it won't work, but as there are different software's in the amps for the sedan, coups and convertible, they may have been optimized for the sound characteristics of each vehicle.
