Default Interesting 03 XK8 on craigslist

This one looks a bit odd upon close examination. What do you guys think?

2003 JAGUAR XK8 CONVERTIBLE ASAP

Looks like they really liked to modify stuff, but forgot to treat the leather. I've seen those tail light covers, but I guess it is personal taste. The trunk lid I have never seen, but I don't see many XK8s around where I live, and the grill is on about everyone I have ever seen. I like the simplicity of just the chrome bar...........Be cool.....Mike

I actually don't mind the tail light look. Not terrible. The leather is the only issue I see and the top stuff. The outside of the car looks good. If the suspension rides out fine and she runs well, that price is fair I think.

I'd guess it's been sitting out with the top down a lot by the looks of it.
120K is low miles?

What I like about my 03 is that the steering wheel looks new. 100k and it looks like it has 10k on it. The prev owners before me when out of the way to take care of it or it has been repalced.

The trunk lid I have never seen, as written by Mike
The spoiler is off a XKR and the chrome Plinth with Jaguar was introduced in 2001

Yes the exterior mods look decent.. may have to put lambswool seat covers on the cracked leather. I think 120k miles would be OK if the owner keeps up the maintenance, better than a low mileage car that has been sitting for long periods. I had a 1998 XK8 that was a real POS, hope the MY2003 fares better.
I'll go take a look this week...

I didn't mean that 120K was necessarily bad but calling it low miles is a stretch.

Probably OK for the price, but the radio may be trying to warn potential buyers.

Do you like working on cars? 120K is high for a 2003 IMO. Have it checked out by a mechanic. And don't believe CARFAX totally. But, you've owned one before.

So the seller has only had the car for 2 months and he's "waiting for a loan to get a new car", and his phone area code does not match the car's location (50+ miles away)... all these red flags (plus the car's radio "Oh No" warning) have convinced me to pass up this one...reminds me of my old bachelor dating days, there's always plenty o' fish in the pond.

I don't work on cars, so I always get a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a trusty indie shop. From what I've read, post-MY2003 XK8's have fewer problems than earlier model.
