Default Interesting Confluence of Events..."electrical fault"/"suspension fault"

So...a few months ago the P1646 code popped up and I have not had a chance to bring to mechanic to diagnose. We think its an O2 sensor as car drives fine. I was not worried as I was not driving the car much as I was using the winter car. I took it on out occasion and all seemed fine but for the code issue.

Last night and today however, due to my son being home from college, I needed to use the Jag to do a couple of 120 mile round trips.

On the last leg today...the check engine light goes off, the cruise control becomes inoperable and the message board states, in green, "suspension failure" alternating with "electrical failure".

I read that it might be a wire under the drivers seat? That is might be a wire to the adaptive suspension...but in an XK8? Then I saw a reference to the ECM...but with the p1646 code off (I think that is from an O2 sensor) I (hopefully) doubt it.

All works except for cruise control. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Cats don't like to be ignored!

Did you check the codes again after the CEL incident on the return home to see if any others were stored?

Graham,

Agreed...but in my defense I was trying to keep her warm and dry. Cats, I know, like to be warm and dry.

The only code we pulled before today was the P 1646. After today I do not know.

Pulling the new codes is my next step. In the interim I was hoping to (once again) tap into this vast and broad river of knowledge of our form members (yes...that is me totally sucking up).

Thanks!

Could this be yet another sign of the brake pedal switch failing? One consequence of that is typically the cruise control becoming inoperative....

Feeling a bit like the Microsoft call centre - battery ?
Cold weather, neglected cat, sulky battery > let's set some codes to wind him up?

Default Could it be this easy...?

So I finally get around to checking the #14 fuse to see if it was blown. Yes that I can do. It was blown and I replaced it fully expecting it to blow again. Well I have driven it a couple hundred miles and still not electrical/suspension fault messages! Stay tuned...

(although I still need to get back the the p1646 code that has returned since I got rid of the above...)

Thanks for all the feedback.
